Here, visitors can enjoy the sight of no less than 400 different varieties of roses spread over approx. 800 plants.

In Rosenhaven there are roses of all sizes, colors and scents from all over the world. In terms of time, both age-old historical roses and the latest rose trends are presented. The bush rose, Rosa X Sancta, which adorns some of the garden's many rose arches, is thus the oldest cultivated rose we know. It is also called the "Mummy Rose" because it was found in tombs in Egypt dated to approx. DKK 170 BC. Over the centuries, the rose has often been planted near churches and monasteries, and the name also means "The Holy Rose", which is why it probably also grew at Mariager Kloster.

Among the newest roses, many will certainly be happy about the refined red "Our Last Summer". It was created by the Danish rose breeder, Rosa Eskelund, and named by the rose-enthusiastic Danish actress Ghita Nørby in 2013. The rose has won a host of international awards and has become very popular in e.g. Italy.

Colors and scents When the garden unfolds in full bloom, the 22 beds will light up with an orgy of colors and offer scents that will be unknown to many, including from a rose crossed with apple. Finally, there is a rose variety called Bizar that can only be seen in the Mariager Rose Garden!

The rose garden is 2.000 square meters.

Since the roses are planted according to a system where they are displayed in a historical and varietal context, the garden also has the status of a Rosarium: A place with romantic corridors, seating and peace, where you can enjoy a book while your nose is tickled by wonderful scents.

The roses will bloom from May until frost. For the joy and happiness of everyone - including children. If the children get tired of looking at roses, they can frolic in the beautiful nature playground adjacent to the Rosenhaven.
