A beautiful 10 km hiking route in the most beautiful nature and with a view of the impressive Mariager Fjord. The hiking route is Premium-certified by the German Hiking Institute.

The panorama route - Denmark's first certified hiking route

The walking route between Hobro og Bramslev Bakker is the first in Denmark to be certified as a Premium Hiking Route. The Deutsches Wanderinstitut, which has established Europe's most widespread - and strictest - quality system for hiking routes, is responsible for the certification. Only the best routes have the opportunity to pass this eye of the needle.

Several hundred hiking routes in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and the Netherlands have been certified in recent years, but the German hiking specialists were still excited by the 10 km. long Mariager Fjord Panorama route. It can easily compare with e.g. beautiful hiking routes in German mountain areas, was the assessment from the Deutsches Wanderinstitut, which gave the route 77 points in their system. This is well above the average for the Premium routes and almost 30 points more than needed to be approved.

The walking route starts at Hobro Yacht Harbor and can be done by most people. Once you have just cleared the stairs at the start of the route, you can exhale on the trip out to Bramslev Bakker. Along the way, there are benches where you can enjoy the landscape and the views over the fjord. In Bramslev, there are good dining options both at Hotel and Restaurant Bramslevgaard og Restaurant Bramslev Bakker, if you want to treat yourself. Where the trip out mostly went up in the heights, the trip back to Hobro goes mostly along the fjord, so you get very close to the water.

The walk itself takes approximately three hours. The route goes on a mixture of paths, grass tracks, dirt roads and fjord banks. A leaflet has been made about the route, but there are also signs with information about the route in the car parks at the marina and in Bramslev Bakker. Along the way, the route is signposted with poles and white markings, so there is nothing to mistake.

The route has been established by Mariagerfjord Municipality and Mariager Fjord Nature and Culture Center. If you fancy more top-class hiking, the Nature Agency Himmerland has certified an 11 km long Premium Hiking Route in Rebild Bakker, which also offers spectacular nature experiences.

Panorama route Mariager Fjord is the first hiking route in Denmark that is certified by Europe's leading hiking specialists in the Deutsches Wanderinstitut. The route got 77 points, which is very high. In terms of experiences and natural beauty, it can easily compare with German routes in e.g. Harz and Black Forest.

The PANORAMA route is just one of many wonderful hiking routes in the Mariagerfjord area. See many more hiking trails here!

Be upwatch out for wildlife on the route

In order to care for nature along the Panorama Route, cattle and sheep graze in several areas along the route. It is important that these animals are not disturbed, and you must therefore not approach either sheep or cattle. Follow these tips to have a good trip for both animals and people:

    • Dogs MUST be on a leash
    • Never walk between a calf and a cow.
    • Never come between a bull and his cows.
    • Walk in a wide arc around the grazing animals, even if they are standing on the path
    • Remember that these are not pets, but ordinary domestic animals.

Parking

You can park in several places along the route, one of the places is the large car park on the corner of Havnegade and Horsøvej in Hobro. See location on map Here!

It is not recommended to park at Hobro Lystbådehavn or along Nedre Strandvej, as this can be a nuisance for residents on the road, as well as cause problems for emergency vehicles.

The panorama route does not have a specific starting point, so you can also start in the middle of the route - for example at Hobro Golf or in Bramslev Bakker.
