Route 32 - Mariager Fjord route

Jump on the bike and get up close to Denmark's most beautiful fjord - Mariager Fjord. Route 32 - also called the Mariager Fjord route is a cycle route of approx. 65 beautiful kilometers that take you all the way around Mariager Fjord. 

Are you going on a cycling holiday? Then this route is definitely for you! 

 

Cycle route 32 takes you almost all the way around Denmark's most beautiful fjord, Mariager Fjord, and is often referred to as the country's most beautiful cycle route. Along the route you will experience beautiful and distinctive natural gems, charming villages, exciting cultural and historical places and beautiful landscapes.

The route is approx. 65 km and winds along field and dirt roads, country roads and cycle paths. 

The trip around Denmark's most beautiful fjord offers several highlights along the way. Experience, among other things Hobro Østerskov with its majestic trees, whose roots almost reach down to the fjord or take a rest in Mariager, whose cobbled streets make you probably just jump off your bike and take the city tour on foot. Here you can also go exploring for Thomas Dambo's store troll Ivan Everlasting, who lives in the Munkholm facility. 

On the cycle tour, you can make stops in several places and enjoy a break in the beautiful landscape and get cultural experiences in the cities you pass along the way. For example, take a detour up to Hohøj and Alstrup Krat, visit Dania and Aa Mølle to the south and Villestrup Å, Stinesminde, Kielstrup Sø and Bramslev Bakker to the north. There are good opportunities to enjoy the view, eat and buy provisions in several places. You can, for example, provide yourself with a nice ice cream in the self-serve The ice shack, which lies right on the route between Stinesminde and Høllet.

 

Relaunched in 2023

Mariager Fjord Route 32 has been rerouted in 2023 to improve cycling conditions for users of the route. Among other things. a cycle path has been established on the stretch between Skjellerup and Mariager, which also shortens the route a bit, but not more than a few kilometres. In addition, part of the route has been rerouted, so that cycling conditions between Bramslev Bakker and Hobro have become more accessible.

The leaflet can also be picked up at the Tourist Information at Mariager Saltcenter, as well as at the Øster Hurup Tourist Information - where we are also ready with instructions and recommendations for the trip during the school holidays. 

In the route leaflet, alternative routes are indicated on sections with large climbs or busy roads. Along the way, there are also suggestions for alternative route sections that you can choose if they suit your wishes better. This is, for example, route 116 out to Ajstrup Bugt, route 18 around Hohøj south of Mariager and the trip out to Fyrkat south-west of Hobro (route 32), where there is also the possibility to connect to Hærvej's cycle route no. 3.

If you download the GPS files from Mariagerfjordguiden.dk, you must be aware that these do not show alternative routes. The alternative routes, which somehow avoid some of the main roads, can be seen in the leaflet.
