Between Kongehøjen and the village of Katbjerg, there are two well-preserved burial mounds. You can see them from the Hobro-Mariager road. The first hill (the one to the west) is called Ormhøj. The other is called Jordhøj.

Jordhøj was excavated shortly before the 1900th century, and showed an incredible result; The chamber had lain hermetically closed since the Stone Age, and the dry masonry, grouted with birch bark between the large blocks, had not allowed the smallest grain of sand to penetrate. On the floor were found well-preserved planks and branches, as well as clay vessels and flint daggers.

Orhmøj's oval chamber is approx. 5 m., and there is also a small beehive, which is only found in very few giant houses and only in the Limfjord area.

How to find your way!

The mounds are quite easy to find. They are located immediately north of road no. 555, midway between Hobro and Mariager. Immediately east of Katbjerg.
