The world map at Klejtrup Lake

On the shores of Lake Klejtrup close to Viborg, you can go on a trip around the world that you will never forget and wander from Denmark to Spain to Australia and on to the USA.

Experience the whole world in miniature with lakes, rivers, mountains and flags. Spread out like an atlas, the World Map lies on the shores of Lake Klejtrup Sø. Here you are surrounded by birds, stuffed animals, beautiful nature and lovely play areas for children. 

Eat in the café or enjoy the food you have brought in the park. Take a trip on the Pacific Ocean - an experience children love. Play on the new nature playground. Go on a treasure hunt around the park or learn more about the UN's 17 global goals and play around in the new area 'The Green Corner'.

Did you know about the World Map?

• The world map was built by the Danish-American Søren Poulsen in the years 1944-69, and started with the discovery of a large stone shaped like Jutland
• The map measures 45x90 m
• 1 latitude of 111 km corresponds to 27 cm on the map
• To better see the correct distance between the countries, the northern hemisphere is marked in 2 places, as a round sphere is difficult to flatten
• The equator is marked with red poles.
